Diets are fattening

Okay. I just started following this blog (like, 30 minutes ago) called "diets are fattening." I love it already. I am going to try to focus on some of what she says. Basically, you have to train your body to eat like a thin person (one who stays thin naturally) and 1. eat when hungry. 2. stop when not hungry but not "full." 3. Only eat food you like. And so on and so forth. Everything I read makes sense. I don't do the "fad" diets, I have only tried the diet plans that are ways of living and not "diets" but that still tell me what I can and cannot eat. This is better.

When I first started working for BRCC, I lost like 10-15 lbs and wasn't really dieting at all. I can't remember how I did that. I know I started walking at lunch (a habit I need to resume) and I hadn't previously done that, but I really don't think I did any kind of diet or anything. Maybe I was eating like a thin person and didn't even know it! I do know I need to get a handle on my appetite. I can sit down on a sunday morning and eat an entire bag of chips just because I feel like it. Was I hungry? No. So why, then, did I eat? Shit like that.

SO here we go again. I am going to continue running though! Except I didn't today because I had planned to run at lunch but then remembered I had a leadership meeting from 3-6 and therefore couldn't. But that's okay. I don't need to stress about that either. I will run when I can. I will eat when I'm hungry. I will not worry about what I'm eating, except in the sense that I should be in the mood to eat it. Hello, sandwiches for lunch! I have missed those, and I can eat them in the car on the way to go walk! This could be a new thing. Quit dieting to get skinny and just DO.

I ran a 5k. . .and made it my bitch!

I truly had an awesome experience at that race. Not only is Girls on the Run a great organization that teaches girls the benefits of running, nutrition, and other life lessons, the race wasn't timed and finishing was the only goal! I was afraid at first that I wouldn't be as fit as I needed to be, but that fear was totally unfounded. Not only did Owen want to walk some (especially uphill--totally fine with me) but I actually felt like I could have run the entire way! I tried to be motivating and I think she had a really good time, which is what it's all about. BTW, in case I didn't mention it earlier, Owen is my 8 yr. old cousin. Super awesome kid.

So, in conclusion, this time I am going to keep running. The last 5k I did, I ran it, and then immediately quit running. Not this time! I want to keep building up my stamina and maybe even run another race sometime. A cheap one. I can run for free at home, I don't need to be paying $25-50 per race. This one was only $16. And I got to make my own tutu.

Fuck!

That subject was for Edward, who doesn't really believe it's me doing this blog until he sees extensive f-bombs. So there.

Fuck, I really have to run a 5k on Saturday? This is me beginning the freak out. I am going to run tomorrow, but I may not run again until the race, just to make sure I'm not sore or whatevs. The thing that really sucks about how well I've done through this whole process is the fact that I have not lost a goddamn pound. Seriously?!?! I hadn't been doing ANYTHING before this and I maintained better than I have the last month. Jesus. And don't give me that "muscle weighs more than fat" bullshit. Because I know how much muscle fucking weighs, and I have measured myself and almost thrown up. So don't give me that.

Okay, enough bitching. Haven't had one of those in a while, it was time! I am excited though. Can't wait to see my little cousin in her (what I imagine to be) hella cute running duds. Should be a fun time. And I have new running tights! They are cute too.

5k Week.

I can't honestly say I've finished week 6; I'm really having trouble with sustained runs. I don't know if I'm truly tiring out, or just bored as hell and wanting a change. This morning, I think I was actually tired, but yesterday I think I could have run the whole 20 minutes; I was just really sick of the monotony! I think the 5k will be better because I'll have my cousin with me, and there will be lots of runners for us to interact with, and I won't wanna look like a lazy fat-ass in front of any of them!

It's the final countdown! (I sang that song to John this morning too; he finishes school THIS WEEK!!! FOR GOOD!!!!!!)

Week 6, bitches!

I did that yesterday. I rule. After work, super tired, and having to pee. But I fucking did it! Lil' sore today, but gonna run tomorrow. Week 6, day2 is upon us, kids. One week to 5k. 7 days. Doesn't seem quite as daunting now tho!
