Staying on Track

I clearly need to post more because I've really gotten off track. Making public my journey to be healthier helps with this, so I'll start posting more for my lone reader :)

Food wise, I'm being pretty good. I'm taking the weekends off for the most part, but I've been good about eating vegan-ish during the week. My weight is stable, but not losing any more. Perhaps this is the time to get back to my working out! I was being so good with pilates and walking, and then I had one day where I didn't do it, and now it's been about 2 weeks since I've done any pilates at all. I have been walking, but that's about it. I need a better audiobook for that. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is just not cutting it.

Back to the grind

It's amazing how easy it is to get out of a routine. Last week was a fail week for me, both with eating and working out. Now it's a new week, a new start, and already I didn't do pilates this morning. I did, however, take Daisy for a walk and I walked at lunch, but I'd still like myself better if I had done my pilates. It's like I can actually see my gut getting bigger by not doing it. Or maybe that's just an innate girl thing. Either way, I'm working on doing better!

The biggest problem is sleep. If I don't sleep well the night before, then I don't get up to work out. Since I don't have to be at work until noon, it is very easy to work out in the morning. It's also easy to use the lack of sleep excuse. I'm not sure why I don't sleep well sometimes, but last night I sure as shit never went to sleep. My brain just doesn't turn off sometimes, and that sucks.

Friday night!

Time to cheat with alcohol. I'm sick of wine so I'm doing beer. And I don't care! If you can't cheat on your diet then there is no point to it. I will renew my efforts next week and it will be all the better because i got to enjoy myself this weekend. And there it is. Also, i had a bad week but didn't gain any weight, so i consider that a huge WIN

Bless me father, for I have sinned. . .

Well, it all started with a student bringing me Rolos for Valentine's day. Then I decided I should take myself out to lunch (Atlanta Bread veggie sandwich on 9-grain bread. . .with chips) and then when I got back to work, I remembered I had some cash in my wallet, so I promptly bought some m&ms. Damn, that didn't last long!

It's okay though. I know it's not the end of the world, and I can do better tomorrow. Overall, I have been doing this diet for 3 weeks, and that is the most I've cheated, which still isn't terribly bad (considering what it could be!)

So all in all, go me! Now if only I can get back into my pilates routine I'll be doing spectacularly. 5 more pounds, and I might even be ready to get my tattoo. Maybe.

Healthy eating = hangover city

Ever since I've been eating healthy, my hangovers have gotten ridiculously bad. Why is that? I guess because I've been cleansing my body of toxins that when I put them back in with booze, it's worse for me the next day. Will this stop me? Hell no!

But maybe I'll try to drink a bit less, and not mix my poisons so much :) Wine is good for you, after all. Totally.

New day

It's snowing, so naturally I want to stay inside all day, but I promised Daisy we would go on a nice, long walk. I also need to do some pilates because i've been suuuuuuper slack on that this week. The good news: only a slight headache this morning as opposed to the raging fit of nausea that was my hangover last weekend.
Stay tuned to see if i actually accomplish my goals today!

Setbacks

Who knew that sugar-free Reese's cups still had 180 calories per serving?!?! I may as well have gone full tilt on those. Oh well. I did only have one serving. What's nice is that I know I can still go home and load up on veggies for dinner and have an orange for dessert (got a sore throat coming on at any rate) and I haven't completely screwed up my day. Perhaps I'll do some Pilates for good measure.

I haven't weighed myself yet this week but I feel confident I've lost a pound or two. If I had a digital scale, I'd know for sure, but since I don't, we'll settle for "it looks like it's gone down!"

Too big, too small

It's official. Everything i own is either too big or too small. Naturally, i don't want to buy new clothes if i'm going to continue to lose weight, but i really hate looking frumpy in baggy pants and loose-fitting shirts. Oh well. I really enjoy this healthy way of eating. As Dr. Fuhrman says, "it's almost impossible to eat too much food, only too much of the wrong food."
I concur.

Doesn't get much healthier than this

What was supposed to be chili turned into this veggie-type stew due to the fact that I bought diced tomatoes instead of crushed. So i improvised and added the rest of the veggies from my fridge and some beans. Initial taste test was DELICIOUS!

Vegan?!?!? Me?!?!?

So I kind of became a vegan. Not really, but kind of. It's so embarrassing. I loooooove meat, eggs and cheese.  And I've spent the last week not eating any of those things. I make fun of vegans all the time too. Also, it's only been a week. So I can't very well say this is my lifestyle now. But I did lose 5 lbs. And I can eat as many fruits and veggies as I can pack in my piehole, so it's really not that hard. And I do understand that it's much healthier to eat this way.

How did this start?

"Eat to Live" by Joel Fuhrman. Actually, he says this is a "nutritarian" way of life, not strictly vegan. I am loving being able to eat fruit again. Stupid "low-carb" diets. Of course fruit is good for you. White flour and sugar are what's bad for you. So I'm cutting out all that shit. And trying, at least during the week, not to eat any animal products. Special occasions, like Superbowl Sunday, for example, don't count. And date night doesn't either. But other than that.
Yeah.
